Capture Your Presence

Fine-art Portraits by Shiv Dattagupta

The magic Begins here

For me making a portrait is an meditative act of passion and devotion that entails telling your story and painting your persona with artistic expressions. I call my work complete when each image tells your story without saying one word. The beauty I see in you, is the beauty I capture on my digital canvas.
I create portraits that emote, evoke, and inspire.

FAQs

Got questions? Here are the details most clients want to know before they book.

My portraits are crafted like small stories — a blend of mood, light, intention, and emotion.

They are not just pictures of you, but interpretations with you.
Each session is customized to your personality, aesthetic, and the atmosphere you want to inhabit.

Absolutely.

Most of my clients are not models — they are artists, thinkers, wanderers, professionals, or simply curious souls. I guide you through posing, body language, breathing, emotion, and presence. You don’t need experience – just openness.

Wear what makes you feel most like you. I typically suggest:

  • Simpler silhouettes over loud prints

  • Earthy, neutral, or jewel tones

  • Textures like linen, wool, silk, denim

  • Clothing that complements the mood of the session (minimal, dramatic, timeless, etc.)

You will receive a Pre-Session Style Guide after booking.

Not in-house, but I can recommend professional HMU artists based on your style, budget, and location. You’re welcome to bring your own stylist as well.

Depending on the package:

  • Prelude — 2 hours

  • Ballad — 3-4 hours

  • Fairytale — 7–8 hours

We move at a deliberate pace so the experience feels calm, grounded, and immersive.

You can choose from:

  • My studio / home-studio setup

  • Outdoor locations (urban, natural, architectural)

  • A creative location with mood (cafés, rooftops, art spaces)

I can also suggest locations based on the aesthetic you want.

Once you book:

  1. You’ll receive a pre-session questionnaire or a zoom call invite

  2. We’ll discuss mood, styling, vibe, and wardrobe

  3. I’ll craft a micro-concept / mood direction

  4. You’ll receive a prep guide with tips for skin, sleep, clothing, and mindset

Yes – bring a friend or partner if it helps you feel comfortable.
However, I recommend keeping the group small to maintain focus and intimacy.

That’s entirely normal.
My sessions are slow, intentional, and guided. Within the first 10–15 minutes, most people forget the camera is even there. My job is to help you find ease.

Yes, subtle edits are welcome (mood, skin, color, contrast).
I do not offer heavy retouching, body modification, or unrealistic transformations. My style remains natural, cinematic, and respectful.

Proofs are delivered in 3–5 days.
Final retouched images in 7–14 days after your selections.

If you need faster delivery, ask for a “Priority Edit.”

Yes – depending on the intended use.
Personal, professional profile, and creative portfolio usage is included.
For commercial use, please request a licensing quote or refer to the Model Release.

Yes – for couples and small families (2–4 people) I offer a custom quote.
These sessions take more time and direction but are beautiful for storytelling.

  • Cancellations 48+ hours before the session: full reschedule

  • Cancellations under 48 hours: 50% retainer is held

  • Weather-based reschedules are flexible

  • If I have to reschedule, you receive a discount or free image upgrade

Then you’re exactly the kind of person I love working with. These sessions are gentle and paced to help you find comfort. Many of my favorite portraits come from people who say this at first.

Yes — beautiful fine-art prints can be added to any package. You can choose from:

  • Museum-grade paper

  • Framed prints

  • Canvas

  • Limited edition series

Yes – local, domestic, and international travel available. Travel fees apply depending on distance.

Simply choose your package on the Portrait Session page and click Book Your Portrait. Or contact me directly if you’d like a custom concept or creative collaboration.

Wonderful – that’s my favorite kind of portrait.
We can build a custom editorial-style experience with moodboards, props, lighting design, and location planning.

Meet The Artist

A journey that started with a simple point-and-shoot.

Shiv’s path into portrait photography began long before a camera ever entered his hands. Encouraged by his art-loving father, he studied at a local painting school under the noted master Kamalesh Bhattacharya, learning to see the world through color, contrast, shape, and silence.
Years later, while working in the tech world, everything shifted. A high-school friend lent him a simple point-and-shoot camera — just a small favor, nothing more. But the moment Shiv began experimenting with it, the world opened differently. What he once expressed through brushes transformed into the immediacy of light passing through glass.
After buying his first Canon PowerShot, he began photographing the people around him — family members, friends, and strangers who trusted his curiosity. Slowly, almost unknowingly, a signature style emerged: intimate, patient, rooted in empathy and quiet observation.
Since then, Shiv has photographed a wide spectrum of individuals — from internationally known artists and creators to people stepping in front of a camera for the very first time. His approach remains warm, collaborative, and grounded in making every person feel seen, safe, and beautifully themselves.
