This space invites those who wander with wonder, curious minds and kindred spirits—whether to fuel the art, fund the caffeine, or simply vibe with the journey. Dattagupta Shiv is a visual artist, composer, occasional writer, and a runaway corporate junkie. 35WonderStreet is his creative identity where visual storytelling meets soulful commerce. Shiv A Humble Beginning Shiv was born into a Bengali middle-class family where quiet creativity and quiet sacrifice shaped his world. His multifaceted mother and art-loving father were his first inspirations. From early on, he carried a dream—to become a whole artist. Seeds of a Calling Early exposure to classical music and visual art laid the foundation for a lifelong pursuit of soulful expression. Training in voice, violin, and painting began in childhood, forming the roots of a multidisciplinary journey. A Parallel Ascent Though the artist within never dimmed, Shiv pursued engineering—building a global career in tech and finance. From a homegrown lab to leadership roles at Ernst & Young and Western Union, the journey was vast. Yet beneath it all, the ten-year-old dream quietly endured. A Language Evolves Photography became Shiv’s bridge back to the arts. A borrowed camera rekindled the sensitivity once poured into brushstrokes, seeded long ago by his father’s Pentax. Through workshops abroad and travels near and far, he developed a signature style—documenting the poetry of people and places with quiet reverence. A Silent Hero,
A New Muse
On the eve of his birthday in 1992, Shiv watched the nation mourn Satyajit Ray. Though the films were familiar, something shifted—the music behind the scenes stirred him deeply. A quiet seed was planted that day, as a new hero emerged: not imagined, but real. Ray became his North Star, and the dream never stopped growing.
A lifelong devotee of Hindustani music, Shiv embraced the shift with grace. Recitals, impromptu compositions, and collaborations soon turned the city into a crucible of rediscovery. While Wisconsin nurtured his eye for photography, New York opened new creative frontiers. Western classical piano training began under Ms. Natalya Mark. New York: A Transformation In 2022, as the world reopened, Shiv co-founded a bi-weekly salon at his Upper West Side home with two neighbors—and a dog named Lucy. What began as a living-room experiment became a sanctuary for global artists, blending performance, conversation, and lasting connection. Beyond the Canvas The Calling Despite his professional success, Shiv’s inner voice grew restless. A chance encounter with Swami Sarvapriyananda in 2023 sparked a moment of clarity. In 2024, he left corporate life to return to India—caring for family and studying music and film scoring at Berklee. 35WonderStreet Takes Shape Life in a quiet corner of India deepened Shiv’s spiritual journey. In July 2025, his mother—his creative wellspring—passed away suddenly, leaving him forever changed. Out of this crucible, clarity emerged. Shiv embraced his path fully, and 35WonderStreet was born—a sanctuary where art, memory, and meaning converge. A Vision Unfurls In the quiet aftermath, Shiv began weaving the strands of his creative life into one tapestry. Photography, once a meditative escape, became a language of light and emotion—an extension of his painter’s eye and poet’s heart. Imperfection is embraced, because life itself is imperfect—and therein lies its poetry.

Though music remains his central calling, Shiv’s journey flows across mediums. 35WonderStreet was born from this spirit of integration—a sanctuary where sound, image, and story converge. Guided by a singular intent to inspire, heal, and connect, his work invites others into a world where meaning takes shape.

Shiv Story Teller

Shiv is a multidisciplinary artist whose creative practice spans photography, music composition, writing, and visual storytelling. His photographic work blends classical aesthetics with a contemporary eye—rooted in a deep understanding of light, emotion, and narrative. He primarily shoots with his trusted Canon 6D, occasionally experimenting with Canon film cameras and a variety of film stocks. A Fuji X series remains his companion on the streets, while another supports his professional video work. Though quietly guided by masters like Ansel Adams and Cartier-Bresson, Shiv’s visual language is unmistakably his own—embracing imperfection as a poetic truth.

His journey as an artist began with rigorous training across disciplines. In painting, he studied under Kamalesh Bhattacharya, a disciple of Nandalal Bose and Yamini Ray, developing a nuanced understanding of form and texture. His musical lineage includes vocal training in Hindustani classical music and Rabindrasangeet, followed by violin studies under Pt. Pranob Mukherjee, the legendary bansuri maestro and multi-instrumentalist. Later, Shiv pursued Western classical piano under Ms. Nataliya Mark in New York, performing works by Chopin, Mendelssohn, and Field while composing his own impromptu pieces.

In music, Shiv’s primary focus lies in composing for film and orchestra. His main instrument is the piano, complemented by violin and other instruments. He draws inspiration from composers such as Dario Marianelli, Vangelis, and Philip Glass, crafting cinematic scores that evoke emotion and introspection. He continues to advance his knowledge through formal studies in Music Business and Scoring for Film and TV at Berklee College of Music (online), integrating his artistic vision with entrepreneurial strategy.

Beyond image and sound, Shiv is a passionate writer—crafting soulful poems, reflective essays, and screenplays. His fondness for fountain pens is well known among close friends, symbolizing his commitment to tactile, intentional creation. As the founder of 35WonderStreet, Shiv envisions a creative sanctuary where disciplines converge and stories unfold. His work is not just an offering—it’s an invitation to feel, reflect, and be inspired.

For me, art is a quiet statement—of pain and pleasure, sorrow and joy, lived experiences and imagined ones. Art emotes and evokes. It gives voice to the voiceless, answers to unanswered questions, beauty to the beholder, and silence amid chaos.
